General instructions to host a Copaint event are available in our FAQ, as well as in the instructions files at the bottom of this page👇.
We use Copaint Mini naming to designate smaller designs, supporting cozier copainting gatherings.
It depends on your event' scale and type:
What kind of event are you organizing? A copainting station can either be a side activity to animate a bigger event (wedding, fund-raising, friends or family reunion...) where guests stop by and grab a brush for 10-20 minutes; or the core activity of your party (team-building event, family party...) with most people painting for 1 to 2 hours. Read more below 👀
How many people will be attending? The size of your event is the second main criteria. For smaller gathering, we recommend our Copaint Mini formats 🐶
A copainting station will add a creative and convivial touch to your event!
Based on our experience, a good rule of thumb for selecting your Copaint design size is as follows:
For a small gathering (fewer than 20 attendees), almost everyone will want to participate. Choose a design with about as many squares as your number of guests!
For medium-sized events (~100 attendees), about one-third of your guests will paint. Choose a design with about a third as many squares as your number of guests! You can also choose several smaller designs.
For large events (+300 attendees), we consider that one-fourth to one-fifth of your guests will copaint. We advise providing multiple canvases — with 24 squares or 30 squares, for example.
Best for: weddings, fund-raising events, birthday parties, big reunions...
Want to exclusively dedicate your event to copainting? Let's do it! Guests pick a square, grab a seat, and paint for 15 minutes before swapping and choosing again. Don't forget to provide delicious food and drinks first 😋
We recommend keeping your copainting group under 25 guests — unless you're renting a large venue — everyone should be seated comfortably.
If you want each of your guests to walk out with a copainted canvas, you'll need as many designs & canvases as attendees. We recommend using Copaint Mini designs with 4 or 6 squares to keep your event under 2 hours. Reach out for a custom design package!
Otherwise,
with Copaint Classic designs, make sure at least 5 people can access & paint on each canvas at once, and choose designs with fewer than 30 squares
🖌️ for a party of 1-5 guests: order 1 design & canvas
🖌️ for a party of 5-10 guests: order 2 designs and canvases
🖌️ for a party of 10-15 guests: order 3 designs and canvases
🖌️ for a party of 15-20 guests: order 4 designs and canvases
🖌️ for a party of 20-25 guests: order 5 designs and canvases
with Copaint Mini designs, 2 people will be painting on each canvas at once. Order a number of designs and canvases equal to half the number of guests.

Squares
▢ Print copaint-design.pdf file double-sided along the long edge, no margin.
For backup, we recommend printing an extra copy too.
▢ Cut the squares using the cutting grid on the back of the design.
▢ Select a lovely bowl or box for your guests to draw the squares from. Your squares are ready!
Canvas
▢ Trace a grid on your canvas, respecting your design size. Use a lead pencil, keeping the lines as light as possible.
▢ Number and underline the canvas squares, starting with 1 in the top left corner, numbering left to right, up to bottom. Keep the markings as light as possible.

Brand Recommendations
🎨 We’ve used Liquitex or Amsterdam acrylic paints in past events, both of which we highly recommend.
🖌️ As for canvases and brushes, we don’t have any specific brand recommendations — go with what feels right for you!
Canvas Size
Choose a canvas that respects your design's ratio! Its size is up to you. The side length of each square is ideally around 3".
For 2:3 ratio Wedding designs, we recommend a 24" by 36" stretched canvas and a 6 x 9 grid (54 squares).
For Copaint Mini 3x4 formats (12 squares), we recommend a 6" by 8" canvas. An 8" by 12" can work too.
For Copaint Mini 3x3 formats (9 squares), we recommend an 8" by 8" stretched canvas, but any square canvas between 6" x 6" and 9" x 9" will work too.
For Copaint Mini 2x2 formats (4 squares), we recommend a 6" by 6" canvas. Again, any square canvas between 6" x 6" and 9" x 9" will work too.
And let's copaint! Have fun!!
